Doctor Visit #4: Pediatrician

Ok...well this is our last doctor visit post for this week...but there will be more next. Sorry if you are getting sick of reading about all our issues. Anyways, poor Brampton has really been put through the ringer with all these visits. He hates doctors and nurses now! Thursday, Brampton had a follow-up visit with his pediatrician b/c last month she found some fluid behind his right ear. She prescribed him amoxicillin for 2 weeks. We faithfully stayed on top of giving him it 2 times a day. Well...when we went it yesterday the fluid was still behind his right ear and she said there was a little behind his left ear. Oh boy! I was hoping for the best. She then went on to tell me that if it is not all cleared up in a month that we'll be refferred to an ENT doc to have him get tubes put in his ears! Well...we're crossing our fingers that it clears up...but if not...that's ok too! I just want my child to hear clearly. I'll keep you posted on our next adventure...
Don't you just love all this!!!?

Oh...we also heard back from the allergist this week. They told us that Brampton has food allergies! We figured...it was nice to finally know what to stay away from!! He's allergic to peanuts (we found out the hard way), eggs (egg whites), and possibly wheat! Now let me just tell you that he is already a picky eater...so this is making it really difficult! The allergist said that he could grow out of this...but to stay clear for now. We were given two EPIPENS at his visit with the allergist....talk about scary! If he ever has a severe reaction and can't breath...I'm suppose to stab Brampton in the thigh with it! Yikes. That gives us about 15-20 min to either get to the ER or have the ambulence arrive. I'm crossing my fingers that we don't have experience somthing like this.

Hey, sorry to hear that. I used top get ear infections all the time. When I was little I had tubes twice. I've been to several specialists and now I am too old to operate on. One doctor prescribed (after months of being on amoxicillin) nasarel and Alegra-D for allergies. I have not had an ear infection since. All of my infections were because of my allergies. So...maybe its the same for Brampton?

Oh man, sorry to hear that! I hope your doctors visits start trailing off a bit...no one does well with so many visits with the men in the white coats!

My daughter Sydney wasn't a talker either because of issues with ear infections and fluid. She had to have tubes twice and did great with them. She's fine now. You're doing great Stephanie. Hang in there. Better to find it all out when they are so young so it's not a problem when they are older.
