Hurricane Season

If you haven't been watching the news lately, then you don't know that there are several tropical storms in our area (Erin and Dean). Thankfully, Erin did not come our way and went south. However, we are a little worried about Dean (1st hurricane of 2007). Supposedly it could come our way as early as next Tuesday. They do not know exactly where it will make landfall...but they did say that Dean will make it to the gulf. Evan's school (UTMB) made a statement today about preparing for what may come. You can read it here.
Our Bishop suggests that we have at least a 5 day emergency kit! Wow...so much for our little 72 hr. kits (haha). As a family, they had us do an evacuation plan including: where we will meet if separated; how much cash we'll have on hand; where we will evacuate to; and what all we'll take with us. I thought that was interesting and very helpful. They also recommended having no less than half a tank of gas during hurricane season (June 1- Nov. 30).
If you can't tell...this is all NEW to us!! Yikes...we'll be sure and keep you posted on Dean.

That's scary! That's one thing I'm grateful we don't need to worry about in ID! When we lived in TX we had a scare like that about a year ago and the stores were EMPTY!! It was really scary and opened my eyes to what would happen in an emergency like that!! Food storage definitely comes from divine inspiration!! Stay safe and keep us all posted!
