After leaving walmart to grab some water for my hot and red-faced family, my eyes were drawn to this barely dressed girl. Get this, she was wearing jean shorts (cheeks hanging out) and a black bra! Seriously. What happened to "NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO SERVICE"? Honestly. Did she think THAT was ok to wear in public? I wanted to cover my little boys' eyes to protect their innocence. My first thought was Lady Gaga. You too? And I immediately knew who this young woman idolized. Unfortunately.
I couldn't help but think about what Elder Ballard said in a talk (Mothers and Daughters) he gave at General Conference. Remember that one? It was awesome. Feel free to read it yourself whether you are a Latter-day Saint or not, it is great advice and counsel.
It is, unfortunately, all too easy to illustrate the confusion and distortion of womanhood in contemporary society. Immodest, immoral, intemperate women jam the airwaves, monopolize magazines, and slink across movie screens—all while being celebrated by the world. The Apostle Paul spoke prophetically of “perilous times” that will come in the last days and specifically referenced something that may have seemed particularly perilous to him: “silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts” (2 Timothy 3:1, 6). Popular culture today often makes women look silly, inconsequential, mindless, and powerless. It objectifies them and disrespects them and then suggests that they are able to leave their mark on mankind only by seduction—easily the most pervasively dangerous message the adversary sends to women about themselves.
And if I ever come across any girl or woman dressed like this again...I will tell her to go put some clothes on...and then tell her about individual worth. Seriously.

Amen, sista! I have been thinking of the right thing to say myself for quite some time to those classy women!
Way to go! Let me know when you figure out exactly what the wording will sound like!! I'm always tempted to be sarcastic and say, "Oh no! I'm so sorry to tell you this, but you forgot your shirt! You must be so embarrassed!" Not as good as your idea.
WELL SAID!!! Love you!
steph. We NEED to talk. Check my blog. Apparently, we have some things in common.
