Tonight we found out that Brampton was exposed to Swine Flu on Sunday in his nursery class. Initially, I freaked out! And this is why...Brampton woke up this morning with a cough. No big deal. And then he was sneezing and had itchy watery eyes. Also no big deal. He has crazy allergies. At lunch, he was warm and had no interest in eating. He just laid on the couch. No movement. Strange...he was just sick last week and had recovered. We gave him Motrin and headed to speech therapy. I thought it was just allergies. This happens quite often. So we get home from speech and he took an almost 5 hour nap. So not like Brampton. He doesn't nap anymore. His fever returned with a vengeance. It was 102.2 and rising. So I assumed he was getting the little cold he had last week. And then, Evan called from his Wednesday night youth activity and said that a family had come to church on Sunday and were diagnosed with the Swine flu on Monday. And like I said...freaked out (for about 5 minutes). I know swine flu is just a flu...but is a little more serious in children. He told me to take him to UC and have him checked out. We had to wait for Ev to get home from activity (oh the joys of only having ONE car). So tonight I spent it in the Urgent Care just to be safe and to hopefully catch it early. Brampton had to wear a mask and everyone that came in to see him were covered in masks. He was such a trooper though...fever, aches, swollen/runny eyes and nose...he didn't care. He was too excited to see a doctor! And he definitely won over all the nurses and ladies at the desk. They thought he was adorable. One nurse was trying to put Brampton's mask up over his nose, but ended up covering his eyes. Brampton quickly told her that, "eyes can't see!" She just about fell to the floor laughing. He's a funny one.
So they tested his boogers and it comes as no surprise...he has the FLU. I'm thinking Swine flu, but they don't screen for the specific H1N1 strain. So now what...right? Well...Brampton and Cardston are being treated with Tamiflu and Ev and I are on a prescription as well. Perfect timing might I add (we leave on our cruise in 10 days!). I went to a couple of pharmacies on the island that say open 24 hours to fill the prescriptions. Perfect right? Only to find out that no pharmacies on the island are open at 10:30 pm!!! What??? Are you kidding me? Why? People do get sick and need prescriptions at night. Reason being....Hurricane Ike! My blood started to boil. Seriously...k people...Ike was almost a year ago!!! Stop using it as a lame excuse. My child is sick and needs his medicine.

u are so much more level headed than me.
Oh, Stephanie, I feel for you! I hope you were able to sort some things out this morning and get Brampton feeling better! There's nothing like feeling a little helpless as a mom!
I am so sorry good thing you got it early. This is exactly what happend to Andrew and I. It turns out that we had H1N1 too! That was why I could see the baby after she was born and why we had to wear masks and stuff when we did finally see her. it was crazy!
Hey a family came to our ward on Sunday with the Swine Flu on Monday. And one in nursery with two of mine, and one in my primary class. And one on CTR7 with another of the kidsI took him to his mom, he was so sick. Why do people bring such sick kids to church. AHH. I hope you feel better ASAP. I think we had it in June, but they never tested us for the actual strain. Here is hoping.
I am glad that you got in so quick. YUCKY
