Signs of the Times

Now I know some of you may not be in the loop with all the Prop 8 talk (I'm not either being that I don't live in Cali...but here is what I do know). So here goes. Proposition 8 is a California State ballot proposition that would amend the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman. After extensive debate between those of different persuasions, voters have chosen to amend the California State Constitution to state that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Thankfully some people still have class and know that marriage is a sacred and divine union between a man and a woman. Now let me just say that we as Latter-day Saints do not hate those who choose to live different lifestyles than us. We just simply stand up for what we believe. The official stand of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be found here.
As we all may or may not know...persecution against the Mormons is nothing new. But no matter who you are or what you believe in...this is troubling. I seriously cried as I looked at all these pictures. They pretty much speak for themselves.

I can only imagine this mother and children are trying to attend church meetings.

Wow. I would not want to be that mom walking past the crowd of people.
I lived in CA when they did prop 22 (just law not an amendment) the church really pushed back then too, but their was never backlash liked this time around. Did you see that CT is now allowing SS marriages as of today.

Thanks for sharing that! I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that bad. I feel so bad for them. That must be really hard to go through that. I can't believe the vandalized church, home, car, windows, holy cow!

We have family in CA who were working hard to get the yes vote on Prop 8, so we are pretty up to date on the situation. But I hadn't seen a lot of those pictures. That is some serious HATE going on. Wow! It makes me scared for what's to come!

Those pictures make me so mad! They are such hypocrites! They're asking us to be "tolerant" of their beliefs when they obviously are not tolerant of the beliefs of others. You don't see members of the church spitting on them or vandalizing their property. They are the ones that are invading and forcing their alternative lifestyle upon the vast majority. They are the ones committing the hate crimes! There are a lot of LDS people in California, however, there aren't enough to pass a law for the entire state. A lot of people see the issue as we do and voted the way they wanted to.

I'm so glad you posted these pictures. We are firm advocates for prop 8 and have been doing what we can to support and encourage friends and family there. We heard about the antagonism to the church, but we didn't see it, nor did I think it got that bad. Wow! What an eye opener to see these pictures. Satan is sure working hard.

This is the reason Southern California is burning right now. For Sure.

Wow, I had no idea, thanks for posting those pics. However sad they may be it is even more sad that those people feel like they are accomplishing something by acting that way. By the way I finally tried those honeylime enchiladas yesterday from the recipe you posted forever ago and my take....its a keeper.
