Edouard

What kind of a name is that? Weird. No offense or anything...I just think it is funny how they come up with names for hurricanes!
Well...you may think we are a little crazy...yes...we are riding this one out. Actually, most people here on the island are. This one is headed right for us! To be a category one hurricane, it has to have winds over 74 mph. This storm is not expected to have winds over 70 mph. Pretty close though. I'm kind of excited...I can't wait to see how powerful this thing gets. I read that we could have some power outages and flooding. But the flooding shouldn't hurt us at all...we live on the 3rd floor. Now power...that could be a problem. So far it is expected to hit tomorrow around noon. The storm currently has winds at about 45 mph but it is suppose to strengthen as it gets closer.
We dropped Evan's mom off at the airport earlier this evening. As we left the island, we noticed all the businesses around here have boarded up their windows or have their storm shutters up and ready. That's when we realized this must be a little serious. They even closed down the medical school 'til Wednesday. Evan's mom didn't make it on her flight and there are no flights tomorrow. Ev went to pick her back up. Yay...we get to have Grandma for a little bit longer. Sorry Grandpa. I thought about going to Walmart to get some essentials, but I really didn't want to deal with all the crazy tourists that would be buying up all the water! They can't keep their shelves stocked around here.
Edouard we're ready...candles and flashlights in hand. We'll keep you posted...

Oh, I am going to keep my fingers crossed for yall, hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm kinda jealous, though, because all the years I lived in Corpus, I never got the "hurricane experience" so I somewhat don't feel like a true Texan. Good luck, and we'll keep yall in our prayers that you keep your electricity.
