Life is Good!

Brothers!
Cardston's cute little feet!!
This past week has been CRAZY! But I have to say that LIFE IS GOOD. What would this life be like without trials?? Boring!! That's for sure. However, there is no way that I would've made it through each day without the help of a loving Father in Heaven. This past week, our family was hit with several trials. I never could have endured without some divine intervention. It's comforting to know that Heavenly Father knows how much we can handle. I am truly grateful for the gift of prayer and knowing that He does hear and answer them. My life and family have been blessed over and over again...and continue to be. My faith has been tested and strengthened. I will be forever thankful.

On Friday, I took Cardston in for his 2 month wellness checkup. His measurements are:
Weight: 12 lbs, 5 oz
Height: 23 3/4 inches
Head: 41 cm
It was a typical check-up. You know how that goes. He did get 5 shots. Yes...he screamed. He was crying so bad that he forgot to breath! Poor baby. My kids always seem to sleep really well after shots. Why is that?? The PA did an examination of his body etc. She then asked me if I had any questions/concerns. I did voice a couple. Evan and I have been a little worried about the shape of his head. It's a little funny looking. Anyway...the doctor came in and did an examination of Cardston as well. She found his head to be a pretty normal for an infant. They usually change in time. But there is a knot/bump that she was concerned about--possible craniosynostosis. Well you are probably saying what the heck is that? Cranio whata? At least that's what I said.
Craniosynostosis is a medical condition in which some or all of the sutures in the skull of an infant or child close too early, causing problems with normal brain and skull growth. It can result in craniostenosis, which is the skull deformity caused by the premature closure of the cranial sutures. Thanks wikipedia!
The doctor sent us to go get x-rays. Come to find out...the x-ray was a little suspicious. So now little Cardston has to have a CT scan. We still have yet to find out when that will be. This scan will help to know whether or not he needs to have surgery. If you want to read more about this condition and surgery...check out wikipedia.

I would not worry too much about this. Both of our boys had the same type of potential diagnosis. Lucas' head "bump" was a bit more pronounced than Travis'. However they found that all was well for both boys. I wonder if it's a Peterson head shape thing.

Boys . . . I just LOVE them. I'm sorry to hear about potential complications for baby Cardston. You'll be in our prayers. You did a good job explaining, Jason was over my shoulder in the kitchen as I tried to relay a pronunciation to him. He finished it for me and then proceeded to almost quote your blog as he was saying what it is. Keep us all posted, we'll be thinking about you. You continue to amaze me with your strength! Hang in there!

Good luck, I hope everything goes well with the CT scan. My brother in-law had I think the same thing when he was a baby, and he had to have surgery. It was a lot to go through, but he is great now- and they have such amazing medical advances now. We will for sure keep yall in our prayers!
