Evan and I are a little concerned (well maybe more than just a little) for our son! He is now 18 months and has a short vocabulary. He's a stubborn little thing...he just doesn't want to communicate with us! hahaha (I wonder who he gets that from?). He loves to read and he understands most everything we say...I guess it's hard to be patient in this situation. However, I have to say that I am very proud of him and the progress he has made thus far. Here is a list of some of his words:
Mama-Mom
Dada-Dad
mmmm-Moo
Eldad-Elmo (that is my favorite)
hohoho-Santa (Yep, I'm very pleased with this one)
uh oh-Uh oh
The rest of the time he pretty much grunts and points to let us know what he wants.

You might want to try signingtime DVDs. Our oldest had an expressive delay (she got all that we said to her, just woudn't talk) they really helped her. Vol 1-3 and 4-6 are the best for this age group.
I dito what Jessica said, that is what we used with James and it has helped. Although it might have delayed him even more cause he won't say the words that he signs. He is just barely starting to learn more words and he is over 2 yrs old. I think it is a boy thing and the first child thing. His doctors don't seem too concerned which has been nice, instead of making me feel panic that my child has problems.

Hey Steph...just taggged ya...see my blog for details.
I think he's fine Stephanie!! Ryan didn't talk AT ALL until 22 months and the dr's weren't worried. He now, a year later, says a ton and knows all the alphabet and sounds. We have used the Leap Frog DVD's "letter factory" and "word factory". They are only 30 min. long so it keeps their attention. Ryan even spells words for us know, especially when we are in the car. He'll come along. And from the list you gave, it doesn't sound like he has a "problem".
Anyway, hope you guys are doing well. Have a happy thanksgiving!!
